Greetings everyone - I wanted to update the campus on a couple of items related to the Student Union construction, and to ask for your continued support in getting the word out to students about these items |
|
The demolition of the loading dock has started and will include the removal of the east walkway. This area is now considered a hard hat area and access is strictly limited to construction and authorized personnel until further notice. Please use caution when walking in and around this area. Demolition of the interior of the student union will begin later this week. |

The move of Associated Students from their Student Union location to their new location at the west end of the Student Health Center has hit some snags. Repair work in that area of the Health Center from the floods over the holidays has taken longer than anticipated due to the need to remove asbestos in order to start the repairs. Unfortunately, due to timing of the start of demolition in the Student Union, ASI's furniture, equipment and supplies have been boxed up and moved, but they are not able to set up their business operation until the repairs are complete. So, for now, ASI is without an office location! There is a table set up in front of Welch Hall where there will be staff available to answer questions during the day, and their telephone number (x3686) is being forwarded so they can receive calls. It is anticipated (based on our best estimates) that they will be able to set up in their new location before the end of this week. In the meantime, much thanks to Steve Richards and Randy Sharp at Physical Plant for their efforts to get the repair work completed, and to Dr. Al Rodriguez and the staff in University Outreach for access to phones and office space for the interim. |

I believe this is what they call "growing pains" a new update will be sent out as soon as ASI is settled! |
